MegaFon says sales of refurbished smartphones quadruple in Jan–Nov
MOSCOW, Dec 8 (PRIME) – The sales of refurbished smartphones quadrupled in money terms in January–November and increased by 149% in units, while the average price amounted to 15,000 rubles, mobile operator and retailer MegaFon said on Friday in a statement.
“The market of refurbished smartphones develops dynamically. The average price of a purchase of devices also rises that stimulates the users to trade them in for new gadgets. We expect sales of second-hand smartphones to exceed 50% in our retail chain next year,” David Borzilov, director of the department of strategy and development of sales at MegaFon, said.
The devices are refurbished by the operator’s subsidiary Smart Bazar. The devices are fully checked for 55 parameters before hitting the shelf.
The most popular brand among the buyers was Samsung whose sales spiked by 130%.
